Description
Protective radome for the Omni 1–8 GHz broadband disc antenna. It shields the radiator from dust, moisture and mechanical damage, and makes the assembly tidier — no exposed parts to catch on something during installation or transport.
Why an antenna needs a radome
An omnidirectional disc antenna lives outdoors, and what usually damages it is not the signal but the environment: dust settling on the disc, ice in winter, wind, a knock during mounting or transport. An exposed radiator is also easy to bend — and in an antenna the geometry is the specification, so the smallest change in the shape of the disc shifts the very thing it was bought for.
Radio transparency comes first
Protection is only worth having if it does not cost you the specification. The radome is printed from radio-transparent ABS: the material neither screens nor absorbs the signal, so the radiation pattern stays exactly what it was without the cover. The antenna platform is PETG, which copes better with load and temperature swings at the mounting point.
Built for one model
The radome follows the geometry of the Omni 1–8 GHz disc antenna and is not a universal part: it will not fit a log-periodic antenna or a disc antenna for another band. We print a separate item for each model, so the easiest way to add protection is from the antenna's own page — compatible options are listed there under "Options and accessories".
Installation
The antenna sits on the platform and is fixed with the four screws supplied, then the radome goes over the top. No special tools needed. If the assembly is going into an open field for a long stay, protect the connector with heat-shrink or self-amalgamating tape as well — standard practice for any outdoor RF joint.

- Does the radome affect how the antenna performs?
- No. It is printed from radio-transparent ABS, which neither screens nor absorbs the signal, so the antenna's characteristics stay the same as without the cover.
- Will this radome fit another antenna?
- No. It follows the geometry of the Omni 1–8 GHz disc antenna. Other models get their own part — the compatible option is shown on each antenna's page under "Options and accessories".
- How is it installed?
- The antenna is fixed to the platform with the four screws supplied, then the radome goes over the top. Nothing beyond a screwdriver is needed.
- Can the assembly stay outdoors all year?
- Yes, that is what the radome is for. Over time the white plastic may change shade under UV — this does not affect radio transparency. As with any outdoor RF cable, protect the connector joint with heat-shrink or self-amalgamating tape.
