Description

A 5 MP camera module pairing the SigmaStar SSC377QE with a Sony IMX335: a 38 × 38 millimetre board weighing 10 grams that delivers a full surveillance stream — 2592×1944 at 30 frames per second, H.265, ONVIF, RTSP, on-board analytics and alarm lines. This is a module for integration: into your own housing, into an existing system, into a build for a specific job.

Human detection, not just motion

Plain motion detection reacts to everything: a branch in the wind, a cat, a cloud shadow, rain in a floodlight beam. After a week of that, people stop reading the notifications. Here, alongside motion detection, the module does human detection — it analyses the frame and raises the alarm on a human figure rather than on any change of pixels. That is the difference between a system people use and a system whose alerts they muted.

Night, backlight and illumination

The IMX335 sensor works down to 0.02 lux in colour and 0.01 lux in black and white — deep dusk, or a yard lit by the odd lamp. A mechanical IR-cut filter switches the camera between day and night mode, and 73.7 dB of digital WDR pulls detail out of a frame that holds a bright window and a dark corridor at the same time.

Illumination runs in three independent modes: infrared, white, or dual. Infrared gives away neither the camera's position nor anyone's night vision; white light gives a colour picture after dark; dual mode fires the white light only on an event — usually the compromise that is actually wanted.

Audio and alarm lines

A microphone input and an output with a built-in amplifier mean you can talk as well as listen — a speaker connects to the module directly, with no separate amplifier. Two alarm inputs and two outputs turn the camera into an automation node: a door sensor on the input, a siren or a light relay on the output, and no separate controller in between.

Where the recording goes

The module keeps no archive of its own — it sends video out, and storage belongs to whatever handles it in your system: an NVR, a VMS, a server or an ordinary computer running free software. There are two streams: a main 2592×1944 one for the archive and a 640×480 sub-stream for viewing over a thin link, so live viewing works even where the network cannot carry five megapixels.

Connection is standard — RTSP and ONVIF, with no proprietary wrapper. HIK and XM protocols are supported as well, along with P2P and an app for Android and iOS, a web configuration interface, OSD, SMTP for e-mail on events, NTP and DHCP.

  • 2592×1944 at 30 fps — five megapixels with no drop in frame rate
  • H.265, H.264 and M-JPEG — compatible with any archive
  • human detection — fewer false alarms
  • two-way audio with a built-in amplifier
  • ONVIF and RTSP — integration into an existing system

Which of our three cameras is yours

This one is about surveillance: analytics, alarm lines, audio, standard integration. If you need 4K and operation down to −40 °C, see the 8MP SSC338Q + IMX415 camera. If you need minimum latency for FPV, that is the SSC30KQ + IMX335 camera on OpenIPC: the same sensor, but 120 frames per second at about 60 ms of latency, with no analytics and no audio.

Mounting and what is in the box

The box holds the camera and a 12 V power cable. The M12 2.8 mm lens gives a wide field of view and can be swapped for another with the same thread if you need it. The 38 × 38 mm board fits standard camera-module housings.

One limit worth knowing up front: the operating range is −10…+50 °C. For outdoor use through a Ukrainian winter the module needs a protected housing with a heater — or the larger SSC338Q model, which is rated to −40 °C.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the camera record to?
Not to itself — the module streams out over RTSP or ONVIF, and the archive is kept by an NVR, a VMS or a computer running suitable software. This version has no memory-card slot.
How does it differ from the SSC30KQ camera on the same IMX335?
In purpose. The SSC30KQ is an FPV camera on OpenIPC: 720p at 120 fps with about 60 ms of latency, no analytics and no audio. This one is a surveillance camera: 5 MP at 30 fps, human detection, two-way audio with an amplifier, alarm inputs and ONVIF.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Only in a protected housing. The module's operating range is −10…+50 °C, so winter calls for a heated enclosure. If the camera goes into the open with no heating, take the SSC338Q model, rated for −40…+85 °C.
What is the field of view, and can the lens be changed?
It ships with an M12 2.8 mm lens — a wide angle, typical for covering a room or a yard. The M12 thread is standard, so the lens can be swapped for a longer focal length if you need a narrower view and more reach.
